Cole’s Gallery is delighted to invite you to the opening of or new group exhibition 

‘Rough or Smooth’ 

curated by Cole’s Gallery, Julia Pomeroy and Eleanor Hawkes

opening event Thursday 16th of June 6-9pm Leeds Corn Exchange 
  
Rough or Smooth challenges the relationship and the boundaries between a base surface and applied medium, while conveying colour, form, and/or depth. With the intention to break away from the comfortable and traditional surfaces of canvas, linen, and paper, typically for painting and drawing, we wish to challenge these artists to apply their practices to a new and unfamiliar surface. Questioning two-dimensional and three-dimensional contemporary art and see what differences arise when these realms are blurred. This group exhibition showcasing artists from across the UK brings together a range of disciplines, use of materials, and individual ideas on representation from their varying practices, within these exhibitions’ parameters.
